Expect Danielle Hunter To Miss Rest Of Season With Torn Pectoral Muscle

The Vikings reportedly fear star pass rusher Danielle Hunter suffered a torn pectoral muscle in the 20-16 loss to the Cowboys Sunday night. By video, we believe those fears are real and we expect an MRI to confirm a torn right pec for the 27-year-old. Hunter was injured with just under 11 minutes to go in the second quarter. He attempts a swim move, then holds his right arm off to the side when he makes the tackle on Cowboys rusher Ezekiel Elliott. Hunter stays in for five more plays, but doesn't use his right arm effectively on any pass rushes. He then exited for two plays and his last play came with just over six minutes remaining in the half.

Hunter missed all of last season after undergoing neck surgery to fix a herniated disk. Confirmation of a torn pectoral would be a big blow for both Hunter and the Vikings. The two-time Pro Bowler has six sacks, 10 QB hits and 38 combined tackles in seven games this year. Hunter's backup Janarius Robinson remains on IR with a lower body injury, hence the Vikings will likely use multiple players to fill the void at left defensive end.
