Fantasy Football 2024: 5 Must-Watch Players Making a Comeback from Achilles Injuries

With the NFL season rapidly approaching, our team at Sports Injury Central has you covered with all the injury insights you need when deciding which players to target or avoid in all formats of Fantasy Football.

Here’s a closer look at 5 Must-Watch Players Making a Comeback from Achilles Injuries.

Aaron Rodgers - SIC Score 93

Aaron Rodgers tore his left Achilles just four plays into his Jets tenure. Pro Football Docs expect him to be fully ready for training camp with no restrictions. He did not participate in team minicamp, which head coach Robert Saleh explicitly deemed an "unexcused absence." There is no concern over the blister scare he dealt with during OTA’s and should be a fantasy asset this year with the Jets revamped line and fully healthy RB.

Kirk Cousins - SIC Score 92

Kirk Cousins suffered an Achilles tear in Week 8 while playing for the Minnesota Vikings, ending his season prematurely. In the offseason, he signed a massive four-year, $180 million deal with the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent. Cousins is currently on track in his recovery and aims to be ready to play by Week 1. The Falcons also drafted Michael Penix Jr. with the #8 overall pick, adding depth to their quarterback position.

J.K. Dobbins - SIC Score 81

Dobbins was cleared for football activities in late March after suffering a torn Achilles in Week 1 of last season. He is looking to shed the injury-prone label and claims to be '100 percent. We at sicscore.com will continue to fade the RBs production as we do not see him playing to full potential due to his second major injury in two years. Dobbins is currently listed as RB2 on most Chargers depth charts and will likely split time with Gus Edwards.

Tim Patrick - SIC Score 78

Patrick has not played in a game since 2021 when he sustained ACL and Achilles injuries. Although he claims to be healthy as of early May reports, he is not guaranteed a roster spot.

Cam Akers - SIC Score 79

Akers is recovering from a torn left Achilles sustained last year as a Minnesota Viking. In 7 games, he carried the ball 60 times for 167 yards. He is familiar with the process of coming back from an Achilles tear as he tore his right Achilles in the offseason before his 2022 season. He came back in Week 18 of that year to play the remaining four games for the LA Rams. Houston is very deep at running back after acquiring Joe Mixon. There may not be a lot of carries for him between Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce, whom he will be competing for for the #2 spot on the depth chart. Due to recovering from two Achilles tears within the last two years we worry Akers will not have the same burst he had when he came into the league. Combined with a crowded RB room, Akers is a big fade this year from the staff at Sports Injury Central.
