Here’s a closer look at some of the key players poised for a resurgence this year.
Christian Watson missed the first three games of the season with a hamstring injury. He sustained a right knee injury in Week 7 but was deemed fit to play in Week 8. However, a hamstring strain in Week 13 ended his regular season. Watson returned for Green Bay’s two playoff games, playing roughly 50% of the offensive snaps, about half his regular rotation during the regular season. He participated in a $4 million study at the University of Wisconsin, sponsored by the NFL, to study the mechanisms of hamstring injuries. Watson discovered that his hamstrings were 'asymmetrical' and is confident that this new understanding will help reduce the frequency of his hamstring issues.
He hasn’t had a consistent season where he’s been able to develop. A 12th round pick with high expectations has dealt with a torn ACL his rookie year and a suspension to begin his second season. With a healthy start to training camp he’s hit the ground running and is primed to have a breakout season in year 3.
Spent last year playing in all 17 regular season games while trying to regain his rookie form in 2021 after a knee injury in 2022. His first day of training camp in 2024 was described as a ‘dominant’ first day in pads. He’s been establishing good chemistry with an established veteran QB in Kirk Cousins, Pitts is expected to have an explosive season when fully healthy.
This will be Wan'Dale Robinson's second season since tearing his ACL in late November 2022. As a speedy player, Robinson wasn't fully recovered during his first year back, finishing the season with 60 catches for 525 yards and just one touchdown. With this being his second year post-ACL tear, he is expected to move quicker and be more effective. A fully healthy Robinson could be in line for career highs across the board in his third season in New York.
This season presents a golden opportunity for these players to make a strong comeback. With improved health, favorable team situations, and increased opportunities, they are poised to have a significant impact on the field and in fantasy leagues.
