Florida State vs. LSU Injury Report: Will Florida State’s Injuries Help LSU Cover the Spread?

After beating Duquesne in week 0 by 40 points, the Florida State Seminoles rolled into Death Valley to face the LSU Tigers. During their last game, the Seminoles sustained injuries to two key starters. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Tigers are favored by 3.5 points. The injuries that Florida State is facing could help them cover.

Florida State Injury report:

Johnny Wilson, WR, Redshirt sophomore:

A 6’7", 235-pound wide receiver is a hard player to find when scouting high school players. In the 2022 transfer portal, the Florida State Seminoles found their unicorn. His name is Johnny Wilson, and in the team’s first game of the 2022 season, he hauled in a 51-yard bomb. He showed off his giraffe-like long frame to grab the pass.

After this marvelous catch, Wilson was seen walking around the sideline gingerly.

This injury sustained on the deep haul could cause Florida State to lose their top target for a big game against an SEC opponent. Luckily for the Seminoles, they don't play until Sunday.

Kayden Lyles, C, Redshirt Senior:

Kayden Lyles, a transfer set to start against LSU, who came over from the Wisconsin Badgers, was injured on Saturday.  He comes from a school known to produce high-class offensive linemen such as Ryan Ramczyk and Tyler Biadasz. But, an injury in the team’s week 0 game will cause him to miss the remainder of the season. Lyles released a statement discussing the injury:

LSU Injury report:

The LSU Tigers enter the college football season as healthy as any team, which for them is a win. Their 2021 season was filled with injuries to their quarterback, wide receiver, and corners. The team underachieved with a 3-5 record and fired their head coach. But, this year, they haven’t sustained any injuries to their starters.

Kayson Boutte, WR, Junior

Kayshon Boutte was a five-star player, and the second-ranked wide receiver in the 2020 high school recruiting class. He’s LSU’s big play threat, and in 2021 an ankle injury cut his season short. He had to have two surgeries to repair the injured ankle. Before Boutte went down, he accumulated 38 catches for 509 yards and nine touchdowns in six games. But, according to 247 sports, he was cleared early in the summer to participate in practice and is supposed to play in week one. He’s had time to practice under a new scheme with Brian Kelly and his new quarterback. His endurance should be fine since he’s had time to work out with the team this summer.

“I was proud of him, I was,” Kelly said of Boutte. “Because some would take it the other way and say I’m not going to do this. But by the end of the spring, he was coaching our younger players. He was doing the little things the right way. He’s been in the training room, and he wasn’t earlier. All I know is that he’s doing the little things necessary for himself and our team that will put him in a good position later.”
