Raptors point guard Fred VanVleet exited Game 4 in obvious frustration after reportedly suffering a left hip strain mid-way through the second quarter.
The 27-year-old ripped his jersey while limping to the locker room and did not emerge for the start of the second half.
Rookie of the Year Scottie Barnes, who is playing through a left ankle injury, replaced VanVleet to start the second half.
While he has not been officially ruled out, the Pro Basketball Docs don't expect VanVleet to return.
Along with the left hip strain, VanVleet has chronic issues with his right knee.
When a speaker caught fire during a late March game against the Pacers, VanVleet could not get his knee “warmed up” to return after the 70-minute delay.
He missed 14 of his last 38 regular season games with the knee ailment and his workload had to be managed during the season.
If the Raptors force a Game 5, the Pro Basketball Docs will have more on VanVleet's status.
