Free Agent Outfielder Michael Conforto Likely To Miss 2022 After Shoulder Surgery

Former Mets' outfielder and current free agent MIchael Conforto is set to undergo right shoulder surgery that will sideline him for the entire season.

Agent Scott Boras announced the surgery and projected absence on Saturday to repair the January shoulder injury that likely contributed to the 29-year-old going unsigned.

The specific details of the injury and surgery were not released, but Boras said Conforto is expected to be recovered by 2023 and will be open for business once again.

The former first-round pick posted a .255 average and .824 OPS with 132 home runs, 144 doubles, 396 RBI, and 400 runs over seven seasons, all for the Mets. He was an all-star in 2017 and posted career highs with 32 bombs, 92 RBI, and 90 runs in 2019.
