George Kittle Injury: Will Groin Hold TE Out of Week 2?

Forty niners' star tight end George Kittle missed Wednesday's practice with the same groin injury that kept him out of Week 1's rainy loss to the Bears.

Kittle's availability for Sunday's bounce-back game against the Seahawks is in jeopardy, according to the Pro Football Docs, and will likely depend on whether he makes his return to practice on Thursday.

George Kittle Injury Update

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said he's hopeful Kittle will play on Sunday.

Even if he does make it back to practice, Kittle will likely be limited by the groin strain he suffered last Monday.

The 28-year-old tight end has missed two-or-more games in each of the last three seasons with two knee sprains, a calf strain, and a fractured foot.

Tyler Kroft played in over half of the 49ers' snaps in Week 1, brining in one of two targets for nine yards. Fellow reserve Ross Dwelley had one receptions for 11 yards.

The trio of Deebo Samuel, Jauan Jennings, and Brandon Aiyuk dominated the target share in Trey Lance's third start.

Samuel had two catches for 14 yards – to go along with 52 rushing yards and one score – while Jennings led the team with four receptions and 62 yards and Aiyuk brought in both of his targets for 40 yards.
