Blue Jays' star centerfielder George Springer left Wednesday's divisional contest with the Red Sox after taking a fastball to his right wrist.
Springer underwent X-rays after the game that came back negative and the Jays are describing the injury as a forearm contusion.
The 31-year-old went down immediately after the HBP but stayed in the game, running into a double play off a grounder by Bo Bichette. Springer went straight to the dugout and was replaced in the field and the lineup by Bradley Zimmer.
Toronto is already without rightfielder Teoscar Hernandez who is on the 10-day IL with an oblique strain. Zimmer and Raimel Tapia have split time in right and at the bottom of the order in his place.
Mike Trout has missed the last three contests since being hit by a pitch on his left hand Sunday. He is reportedly dealing with swelling, but it on track to return to the lineup on Monday.
