Giancarlo Stanton Injury: Slugger Hurts Foot, Not Related to Achilles

Yankees' leftfielder Giancarlo Stanton suffered a left foot injury after fouling multiple balls off of his foot during an eighth inning at-bat Monday.

Giancarlo Stanton Injury Update

New York manager Aaron Boone said that x-rays were negative and they have yet to decide whether the former MVP will play on Tuesday against the Twins.

Stanton missed over a month with Achilles tendonitis and has struggled since returning on August 25, batting .105 with nine strikeouts and three RBI that came on a single and a walk in his first two at-bats back from the IL.

Boone specified that the 32-year-old's injury wasn't connected to the tendonitis.

If Stanton misses time, he will be the third key Yankees' outfielder on the IL, with both Andrew Benintendi and Matt Carpenter out after suffering a hook of hamate and foot fracture, respectively.

First baseman Anthony Rizzo is also out after receiving an epidural to relieve lingering back soreness.
