Giants LG Nursing Knee Injury, Unlikely To Be Healthy Going Into Week 1

Shane Lemieux, the Giants’ starting left guard, reportedly has a partially torn patellar tendon. He's missed two stretches of training camp, and only did a walkthrough today. The plan is to try to rehab the injury and have him play through the season. This seems dubious, unless it is a very small partial tear in the 1% to 5% range — really more of a patellar tendon micro tear rather than a true partial tear. Given the position he plays, it is unlikely that he's going to be able to be able to make it through the season without an absence. The Giants seem to realize this as they've gotten some backup help by trading for OL Billy Price and OL Ben Bredeson. The team is determined to have Lemieux play through the ailment meaning we will have to watch this situation closely.
