Giants Lose Steve Duggar To Oblique Injury, Adding To Long Of Soft Tissue Injuries Around the League

The Giants pulled 28-year-old outfielder Steven Duggar in the second inning after he suffered an apparent left oblique injury.

Duggar, who has started in 11 of 12 games this season and leads the majors with four stolen bases, appeared to strain his oblique after fouling off a pitch and was replaced by Mauricio Dubon with a 1-2 count in the at-bat.

The speedster joins an ever-growing list of players sidelined with oblique injuries, a phenomenon likely related to the truncated spring training.

That list includes Blue Jays Teoscar Hernandez and Danny Jansen, Rays pitchers Luis Patiño and JT Chargois, and key Diamondbacks Jordan Luplow and Josh Rojas, all of whom took a trip to the IL, with Patiño stuck on the 60-day list.

This doesn't include multiple players who suffered strains during spring training, led by Odubel Herrerra, Yoán Moncada, Skye Bolt, Ben Rortvedt, and Quinn Priester.
