Gordon Hayward, the Hornets 31-year-old small forward, suffered a left ankle sprain in the first quarter of Monday night's loss to the Raptors.
Hayward was injured when he jumped to try and block Gary Trent Jr.'s shot, but landed on Trent and had his left ankle trapped underneath the Raptors guard.
By video, Hayward suffered an inversion ankle sprain on the same leg he broke in October 2017.
This injury contained the opposite direction and force of the previous break, thus it did not involve the previous injury, according to the ProBasketballDocs.
Hayward left the game and did not return. The ProBasketballDocs project he will miss the five games before the All-Star Break and likely return during the final three games of February.
The former Celtics forward is averaging 16.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists on 46% shooting from the field and 39% shooting from three-point range.
Kelly Oubre Jr. and P.J. Washington will likely see increased minutes with Hayward out.
The Hornets (28-27) face the Bulls at home Wednesday night on ESPN.
