Grizzlies Injury Report: Ja Morant Leaves Game With Right Knee Injury

Grizzlies' superstar limped off of the floor of their 30-point loss mid-way through the fourth quarter after potentially aggravating his previously-injured right knee.

Ja Morant Injury Update

Morant left the contest with 6:19 left in the fourth after appearing to suffer an injury with 6:55 left in the contest.

Based on initial video, our team of ProBasketballDocs don't believe the injury is significant as they didn't see any specific injury mechanism.

While it has yet to be reported, Morant may be dealing with chronic tendonitis in his right knee, according to the Docs.

Memphis head coach Taylor Jenkins said after the game that Jordan Poole grabbed and “yanked” Morant's knee on a play in the fourth quarter.

Morant's leg was stretched out while planted on the floor while he was doubled by Poole and Andrew Wiggins and he was seen massaging the right knee immediately after the play.

Morant Tweeted a video of Poole's grab after the game with the caption “'broke the code'” in reference to Steve Kerr's comments after Dillon Brooks' flagrant 2 foul that led to Gary Payton II breaking his left elbow.

The Grizzlies have yet to specify the nature of the injury but Morant is likely to undergo further tests ahead of Game 4 on Monday.

This season's NBA MIP missed nine games after suffering an apparent right knee tweak on March 18. Similar to tonight's injury the Docs didn't see any specific traumatic source of a knee sprain or soreness on that play.

He returned for the playoffs with no ill-effects from the late-season right knee soreness.

The 22-year-old is a notoriously aggressive, explosive, and high-flying scorer and is constantly putting undue stress on his legs in the paint.
