The Grizzlies have listed the quartet of Jaren Jackson Jr., Steven Adams, Desmond Bane and Tyus Jones as doubtful for Friday's matchup with the Suns.
Young wings De'Anthony Melton, Brandon Clarke, and Ziaire Williams likely will step into starting roles if any or all of the starters do sit. All three have been essential in Memphis maintaining an elite 18-2 record with Ja Morant this season, with Melton especially stepping up as of late, averaging 19.8 points and 5 rebounds on 58.8% shooting from 3 during the Grizzlies' 6-game winning streak.
Memphis clinched the No. 2 seed in the West with their 54th win over the Spurs, also moving three wins away from the franchise record set by the 2012-13 team that won 56 games and advanced to the Western Conference Finals.
The four starters will join Ja Morant, who remains out for the next week with a right knee tweak. With the Grizzlies set at the second seed, there is no pressure to rush Morant back.
The Suns, who have clinched the No. 1 and a 60-win season themselves, are awaiting the return of Cam Johnson from a thigh contusion. Johnson is listed as probable for the game.
