The Texans placed Tyrod Taylor on IR on Tuesday with a hamstring injury he suffered in Week 2. The 32-year-old will miss at least three games and it will take longer than that for him to be effective as a dual threat quarterback. Filling for Taylor is Stanford alum Davis Mills, who is making his first career start with a short week of practice to prepare. Head Coach David Culley said Deshaun Watson will be inactive for the game.
Danny Amendola/Anthony Miller/Nico Collins 33
Third-string wide receiver Danny Amendola is listed as doubtful for the game with a thigh injury. Fourth-string wide receiver Anthony Miller is making his return from a dislocated shoulder in the preseason, the third time in his career he has suffered a dislocated shoulder. The team also just placed Nico Collins on IR with a shoulder injury. We gave the trio a combined SIC health score of 33.
Despite the rookie starter, we like the over on receptions FanDuel lists for Brandin Cooks (5.5) since the Texans don’t have much depth left at the wide receiver spot. Mills targeted Cooks 10 times for four catches, 28 yards and a touchdown after starting the second half in place of Tyrod Taylor.
