How Did Russell Westbrook Clear Health and Safety Protocols so Fast?

Lakers star point guard Russell Westbrook is active and available for tonight's game versus the Timberwolves just over 1 day after he was added to the NBA's health and safety protocols.

Westbrook is only the 2nd player – the 1st being his teammate, LeBron James – to enter and exit COVID protocols within 2 days. Every other player has taken at least 6 days, and a vast majority are out for over the 10-day minimum.

One way out of the protocols is to post 2 negative tests at least 24 hours apart, which Westbrook must have done. Considering the speed he was cleared – he was reportedly added to protocols after the Lakers' 107-104 win in Dallas on Wednesday night – the former MVP was either tagged with a false positive test or added due to close contact and began testing immediately.

Los Angeles is still missing 6 players with COVID-19 tonight: Dwight Howard, Talen Horton-Tucker, Malik Monk, Austin Reaves, Avery Bradley, and Kendrick Nunn, who has yet to play this season as he is dealing with a lingering knee issue.
