Coming off a miraculous comeback against the Detroit Lions, the San Francisco 49ers have a chance to capture their first Super Bowl title since 1994.
Fortunately for the 49ers, they do so with a fully healthy starting 11 on offense.
Running back Christian McCaffrey had an odd landing on his neck late in the NFC Championship and Elijah Mitchell finished the game.
However, our panel of doctors are not concerned about his availability for his first career Super Bowl appearance.
McCaffrey has been productive despite suffering a mild right calf strain in Week 17. He has rushed 37 times for 188 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns and caught 11 passes for 72 yards.
Star wideout/running back Deebo Samuel should also be fully healthy for the Super Bowl despite the left shoulder injury he suffered in the Divisional Round. He caught 8 passes for 89 yards during the win over the Lions.
Tight end George Kittle is nursing a toe injury he picked up during the Championship Round. Our staff is reviewing video of the game to determine the severity of the injury. He did not miss a single snap and was blocking during the final few drives to end the game.
Kittle had 2 catches for 27 yards against the Lions after having 4 catches for 81 yards and a touchdown against the Packers.
Quarterback Brock Purdy missed just one game this season due to rest, although he did suffer a concussion and a stinger during the regular season.
While the stinger may recur if he’s hit in the head/neck area, the symptoms typically subside and should not affect his availability in the Super Bowl.
