How Healthy Is the Chiefs Offense for Super Bowl LVIII

In this 2020 Super Bowl rematch, Kansas City will be looking to match the 31-point output they achieved last time in the postseason against the 49ers.

However, they may have to play without All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney for a second straight game.

Thuney suffered a right pectoral strain in the Divisional Round win over the Miami Dolphins and missed the Championship Round matchup against the Ravens.

Although he now has until Feb. 11 to recover, it will still be tough for him to play effectively and block the crucial A gap, according to our panel of docs.

Gritty rusher Isiah Pacheco was listed as questionable with toe/ankle injuries ahead of the Championship Round, but had 24 carries for 68 yards and a touchdown.

His 2.8 yards per attempt were the lowest since Christmas against the Raiders, but he appeared to have full ability to push and drive off his injured toe.

Pacheco should be fully healthy for Super Bowl LVIII with the bigger factor being Thuney’s availability.

Rookie wideout Rashee Rice had a breakout campaign during the regular season and has missed just one game during the regular and postseason. He will likely benefit the most from the extra time ahead of Super Bowl LVIII.

Rice was listed with a hamstring injury ahead of the Championship Round but practiced in full and had no injury status entering the game. He is also likely nursing a minor left knee injury he appeared to aggravate during the win over the Ravens.

Originally, Rice appeared to suffer a knee contusion when he landed hard on his left knee during the frigid contest against the Dolphins.

After 8 catches for 130 yards and a touchdown in the opening round, Rice has logged 4 catches for 47 yards and 8 catches for 46 yards in the two most recent contests.

Running back Jerick McKinnon remains on IR with a groin injury and is unlikely to return for the Super Bowl.

Kadarius Toney’s last game came on Dec. 17. He has been listed as out with hip/ankle injuries since then, although he recently said on Instagram live that he is not injured.
