How Long Will Groin Strain Keep Giants' Joc Pederson Out?

Giants outfielder Joc Pederson has not played since suffering a grade one right adductor strain last Wednesday.

The 30-year-old lefty was injured while attempting to beat a throw to second base. He ducked down, grabbed at his right side and exited the game.

San Francisco originally labeled the injury groin tightness, but updated that to an adductor strain after an MRI on Friday.

The team is reportedly hopeful he can avoid a 10-day IL stint, but he has already been out for four days since the injury.

The Pro Baseball Docs believe Pederson can get by as a designated hitter until he's fully healed, but will be retroactively placed on the 10-day IL if the Giants need a roster spot.

Pederson, who came over this offseason from the world champion Braves, is batting .353 with a 1.127 OPS, six home runs, 10 RBI, and 11 runs in 51 at-bats this season.

The Giants are 14-8 this season and have a day off on Monday.
