Sidney Crosby, the Penguins' star center, is in doubt for Friday's Game 6 after appearing to suffer a head injury in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Rangers.
Sidney Crosby Injury Update
While there has been no official confirmation of a concussion, Pittsburgh head coach Mike Sullivan said the 34-year-old would be evaluated for an “upper-body injury.”
Crosby has missed over 100 games in his career with multiple concussions. That makes this current head injury a huge concern and would make it difficult for him to return in Game 6 or a potential Game 7.
Concussions are nearly impossible to diagnose by video, but the news has not been positive postgame.
Crosby played two more shifts after this hit by Rangers' defenseman Jacob Trouba, then left to the locker room:
He did not play in the third period and his absence spurred three unanswered goals for the Rangers.
The Penguins lead the series 3-2, with Game 6 scheduled for Friday in Pittsburgh.
Crosby last suffered a concussion in 2017, missing six regular season game.
Rangers vs Penguins Game 6 Odds
Pittsburgh is the underdog in Game 6 and the over/under is 6.5 goals, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The Penguins are -250 to win the series and +1700 to win the Stanley Cup.
