Is Devin Booker Dealing With Hamstring Tightness or a Strain?

Two quarters after fist-bumping a baby, Devin Booker exited Game 2 nursing a right hamstring injury.

The 25-year-old scored 31 points in the first half, but was held scoreless on one shot in the second half before exiting with 4:35 left in the third quarter.

Phoenix lost the game 125-114, but the main concern of the night was clearly the status of Booker's hamstring.

While the team referred to the injury as right hamstring tightness, the ProBasketballDocs believe the Suns' star shooting guard is dealing with a hamstring strain.

Booker was injured while attempting to chase down a fastbreak dunk by Jaxson Hayes. He grabbed at his right hamstring and exited the game.

The ProBasketballDocs – including former Bulls head team doctor Dr. John Hefferon – note that strains happen on plays like that, while tightness is gradual and happens over time.

The question on everyone's mind is how severe Booker's hamstring strain is.

On Wednesday morning, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Booker is unlikely to play in Games 3 and 4 in New Orleans.

He strained the other hamstring, his left, in late November and missed just over two weeks.

Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday, exactly one week from his injury date.

Regardless of the severity, Booker is likely to be hampered by the injury throughout Round 1 and potentially into Round 2. He can operate as a catch-and-shoot threat, but his main asset to the Suns is as a scorer off the dribble.

As of Wednesday, the Suns still have the best odds to win the finals at +300, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
