Injured Fantasy Football Players to Avoid in Week 2

Fantasy football Week 1 was a blast! There were multiple overtime matchups and a ton of upsets. But, similar to any NFL week, significant injuries occurred.

This article will discuss key players you should consider benching, or avoiding in DFS, for Week 2 matchup because of their injury concerns.

All stats used will be based on a half-ppr scale, according to Fantasy Pros.

J.K. Dobbins, RB28, SIC score 63

The first of the two players to discuss is J.K. Dobbins, who was on a rampage before tearing his left ACL with LCL damage

Dobbins was a full participant in practice this week and warmed up pre-game last week. But, in just over a year since a catastrophic knee injury, Dobbins still needs time to recover.

In the 2020 season, Dobbins was one of the most efficient backs in the NFL, averaging six yards per carry, which ranked 3rd in the league.

He also added 805 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, which put him in the top 20 in both categories.

Furthermore, Dobbin’s SIC score has improved by 10 points over the last week.

Nevertheless, his output should still only be around 63% of his usual production because he won’t be able to decelerate and cut easily.

The Docs recommend sitting Dobbins until he proves he’s close to 100 percent.

Michael Pittman Jr., WR11, SIC score 13

Pittman Jr. reportedly suffered a quadriceps injury during practice on Wednesday and has been listed as questionable for Week 2.

The Pro Football Docs are pessimistic that the Colts' top wideout will suit up against the Jaguars, and if he does he will be limited as he will still be hampered by the soft-tissue injury after a quick turnaround.

Pittman Jr. brought in nine receptions for 121 yards and a game-tying touchdown, so his absence will leave a boatload of targets for Parris Campbell and pass-catching back Nyheim Hines.

Allen Lazard, WR40, SIC score 75

Green Bay's new No. 1 wide receiver suffered an ankle injury in practice ahead of Week 1 and is listed as questionable for Sunday's rivalry contest with the Bears after returning to practice in a limited fashion this week.

The 27-year-old is trending towards playing for the Packers on Sunday, a return that will be a big help for Rodgers although Lazard will still be limited and easing his way into the regular season.

The offensive line remains a major question as well for the Packers: left and right tackles, David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins, were limited at practice after missing Week 1 with their ACL (and meniscus for Bakhtiari) recoveries and left guard Jon Runyan is in concussion protocol and hasn't logged a full participation this week.

George Kittle, TE5, SIC score 63

The all-word dynamic tight end made his debut practice appearance on Friday and is questionable for the 49ers' home opener against the Seahawks while he works through a recent groin strain.

Kittle is on the path to playing on Sunday but will still be limited as both a route-runner and a run-blocker, opening up more high-quality opportunities for Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and Jauan Jennings.

Najee Harris, RB7, SIC score 84

In the preseason, Najee Harris said he suffered a Lisfranc injury. He didn’t seem limited by the injury in the opener against the Bengals. Even though he rushed the ball 10 times and gained 23 yards. But later, he left the game limping.

Harris was ruled out for the rest of the game with a foot injury not associated with his Lisfranc injury in the preseason.

According to our Pro Football Docs, there is still a concern for a mild left ankle sprain, which could limit him for weeks.

Look for him to be limited in the team’s Week 2 matchup. Based on him being limited, we recommend benching Harris this week.
