By video, the Mavericks star guard is unlikely to miss significant time with right foot injury he suffered on Friday night, according to our panel of doctors.
Irving will undergo an MRI on Saturday, but our panel of docs are not expecting the MRI to reveal structural damage or a long-term injury.
The 31-year-old walked off under his own power after hitting 2 free throws in the 2nd quarter of last night's game against the Portland Trailblazers.
He suffered the injury when teammate Dwight Powell landed hard on his right leg while attempting to get a rebound.
Irving initially needed the help of the training staff to get to the sideline, but eventually walked under his own power to the free throw line. He left the game after hitting two foul shots.
The Trailblazers broadcast said during the game that Irving left the stadium in a wheelchair, but Dallas head coach Jason Kidd told reporters that was inaccurate and Irving remained in the locker room to greet teammates.
Irving had 11 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists in 13 minutes before the injury. He is averaging 23 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 17 games this season on 47.1/38.4/90.3 shooting splits.
The former Celtics star has missed 4 games this season with right foot soreness, but this injury is likely unrelated given the injury mechanism.
