In the wake of last season's concussion concerns surrounding Tua Tagovailoa, fewer players have been clearing concussion protocol promptly for subsequent games. The NFL appears increasingly cautious about the swift return of athletes following head injuries.
Recently, quarterbacks Derek Carr of the New Orleans Saints and Amari Cooper of the Cleveland Browns sustained concussions, sidelining them during their respective games.
Carr incurred additional injuries to his right shoulder and back due to a forceful hit on his right arm against the Detroit Lions. Should Carr fail to clear concussion protocol and recover from his other ailments, Saints backup quarterback Jameis Winston is slated to step in for Week 14.
