The NBA season is set to tip off this Tuesday, featuring an exciting doubleheader on TNT. The Denver Nuggets will go head-to-head with the Los Angeles Lakers, while the Phoenix Suns will clash with the Golden State Warriors. Anticipation for the season is at an all-time high, as the league is brimming with talent. However, many of the league's rising stars have encountered injuries early in their careers, depriving fans of the opportunity to witness their brilliance on the court.
New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson has contended with injuries during his relatively short NBA career, with a right hamstring issue limiting him to just 29 games last season. In the current season, he appears to be in improved physical condition compared to previous years, thanks to his participation in the preseason. It is hoped that Williamson has left his foot and hamstring injuries behind him.
The Chicago Bulls signed Lonzo Ball to become their future starting point guard, but his aspirations have been halted by a chronic knee injury. Ball participated in 35 games during the 2021-22 NBA season before sustaining a left knee injury. His absence has persisted due to three knee surgeries, and he is expected to miss the 2023-24 season. According to the Pro Basketball Docs, the prospects for his career continuing at the same level are uncertain.
Since suffering a torn ACL and meniscus during the 2019-20 season, Orlando Magic forward Jonathan Isaac has only played in 11 games. Despite returning after missing two seasons last year, Isaac's season was cut short prematurely by a torn left adductor muscle. However, reports indicate that he recovered rapidly from this injury and engaged in offseason training. This will mark the first time in three years that Isaac will participate in the opening game.
Indiana Pacers big man Daniel Theis missed 75 games in the previous season due to a right knee injury. He underwent knee surgery last November following persistent soreness. This season, Theis is on track to play for the Pacers, although young players may potentially encroach on his playing time.
