Insights Roundup: Key Injuries Impacting Week 2

Here is a collection of our injury analysis on big impact fantasy football players. For up-to-date analysis sign up for notifications here or have our analysis delivered to your inbox through our bi-weekly newsletter.

Anthony Richardson - SIC score 90

Suffered a bruised left knee late in the first quarter, but did not leave the game and was effective running the ball. Richardson rushed 9 times for 28 yards and a touchdown after he was injured on the 12-yard run, his first of the ball game.

Expect him essentially at full health for next week’s matchup against fellow rookie QB C.J. Stroud and the Texans.

Travis Kelce - SIC score 60

Low chance he’s available in Week 2 against the Jaguars with his knee bone bruise. Based on reports, he wasn’t close for the Thursday night game and had blood and fluid drained from his knee over the weekend.

Bone bruises require time to heal to 100%, but the Chiefs clearly need him as a receiving option.

Aaron Jones - SIC score 75

Jones had an explosive day, but suffered a left hamstring injury on a 35-yard screen catch and run for a touchdown.

He did not return to the game, but the hope is for a mild-grade strain given the score. Practice report will be key to monitor ahead of next week’s contest with the Falcons.

Mark Andrews - SIC score 66

Andrews was inactive with the quad injury that limited him in practice all week. He has a better chance to play this week as it’s been roughly three weeks since his original injury, but he likely won’t be at 100% effectiveness.

His health score may improve as the week progresses, but the Pro Football Docs expect he will be active for a big division showdown against the Bengals.

Diontae Johnson - SIC score 50

Hamstring issues re-emerged for Diontae Johnson after a 26-yard catch in the third quarter. He did not return to the game and he’s doubtful at best for Monday against the Browns.

Look for Pickens to get more opportunities if Johnson is forced to miss the division matchup.

J.K. Dobbins - Out for Season

Suffered an Achilles tendon tear on a short catch early in the second quarter and will miss the remainder of the season. Tough injury luck for a young, budding running back after he missed the 2021 season with a multi-ligament knee injury.

Pat Freiermuth - SIC score 68

By video, suffered a sternum contusion late in the second quarter. He was able to return in the third quarter, but sternum contusions typically linger for multiple weeks and could affect his availability Monday against Cleveland.

Greg Dulcich - SIC score 50

Denver’s TE1 suffered an apparent hamstring strain while running a deep route late in the second quarter. He did not return to the game and may miss Week 2 as well.

His practice reports will be key to monitor ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Commanders.

If Dulcich is not available, Adam Trautman will be in line for more usage.

Kadarius Toney - SIC score 88

Despite his forgettable performance on Thursday night, Toney’s knee should be better healed with the extra rest before the team’s Week 2 contest.

Toney entered the season opener with a SIC score of 77 and had his worst career output, possibly related to all the time he missed in training camp.

He will have the chance to get back on track next Sunday against the Jaguars.
