Irv Smith Jr., the Vikings number one tight end, will undergo an arthroscopic knee surgery for a meniscus injury that will sideline him for at least the start of the season. The hope is for a scope or meniscus trim, so that he could be back by early October or the end of September. This would be the quickest timeline. If there is a need to repair the meniscus, then he would be done for the season. TE Ty Conklin is a good fantasy pickup in his place, at least for the first month of the season.
