The Philadelphia 76ers blew a fourth-quarter lead to the Boston Celtics Thursday night after Jayson Tatum erupted for 16 fourth-quarter points. ESPN's Marc Spears said that Embiid and Harden looked sluggish at the end of the game.
Harden was most likely devastated and exhausted from playing 43 minutes, but Embiid's problem might be more serious.
Embiid has a SIC Score of 84, but is still favoring his right leg on jump shots and while jumping for blocks. He's playing with a knee sleeve instead of a brace. The sleeve helps improve his mobility but comes with the risk of re-injury.
In the first round, the NBA's MVP underwent a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection, an orthopedic therapy that uses a patient's platelets to accelerate the healing process. But the benefits of the PRP injection won't come until the next round.
Luckily, for Embiid Game 7 isn't until Sunday, which gives him two rest days. But the game is at TD Garden, which bodes well for the Celtics.
Embiid had 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks in Game 6 against the Celtics. He's only shooting 25% from three in series, and his rebounding numbers are down from 10.2 in the regular season to 9.2 in the postseason.
The MVP will play the next game, but seeing how flhe'she’s moving will be interesting.
