Chris Thompson - RB
Chris Thompson faces a new beginning with the Jaguars, in the wake of three straight seasons marred by injury. In 2017, Thompson suffered a fibula fracture while in 2018 he dealt with a rib issue. In his last season with Washington, the speedy running back missed time due to a turf toe. Injuries to the great toe metatarsal phalangeal joint are particularly debilitating for a running back as the force when running, cutting and jumping goes through this area. The injury seems minor but is one to consider as he joins his new team. He is an effective third down back who should complement Leonard Fournette well, but has played just 31/48 possible games since 2017.
Laviska Shenault - WR
Laviska Shenault has had significant injuries in the last two years at the University of Colorado but managed a combined 10 touchdowns despite the injury issues. In 2019, Shenault suffered an abdominal strain which forced him to miss one game. He required core surgery for this injury which was performed after the season. Before the 2019 season, Shenault suffered a left shoulder labrum tear but performed well averaging almost 14 yards a reception. In 2018, he missed three games due to a turf toe injury but managed career highs in receiving yards and touchdowns. The Jaguars pounced on the talented wideout as he fell in the draft due to injury concerns but we see nothing wrong with him and could produce immediately in Jacksonville.
Tyler Eifert - TE
Eifert has been labeled as injury prone given he’s played in a total of 14 games the last three years but 2019 was a change of pace as he played in all 16 games. In 2018, Eifert suffered a gruesome ankle fracture dislocation in Week 4 causing him to miss the rest of the season. This was a traumatic bad luck injury where he tore ligaments and broke his fibula where his toes were pointed in a different direction than his kneecap. Beckham Jr. had a similar injury and has no residual effects. In a full season, the Notre Dame product caught 43 balls for 436 yards and three touchdowns. Eifert should see a huge target share in his first season in Jacksonville as back up tight end Josh Oliver will miss the start of the season with a broken foot.
