Jalen Hurts Likely To Rest For Playoffs, Ankle Will Be Ready For Wildcard Round

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was limited in practice with a right ankle injury for a second straight day Thursday.

Hurts has played through the Week 12 ankle injury for the past three weeks, but will more than likely rest against the Cowboys this Sunday.

We expect Gardner Minshew to be under center to face Dallas, but Hurts will return for the playoff matchup and his ankle will benefit from the extra week of healing.

Philadelphia doesn't have much to play for this week as far as playoff seeding, thus the gamesmanship has begun.

The Eagles also had 12 COVID-19 positives on Monday across multiple position groups, suggesting those players submitted themselves to voluntary testing.

All 12 of those players are eligible to return for the game Saturday, but we don't expect a majority of them to be activated.

By keeping those players on the COVID reserve list, Philadelphia can bring up practice squad players to take the starters' reps during the game Saturday.

Miles Sanders has already been ruled out with his broken hand and we don't expect Jordan Howard or Boston Scott to suit up either.

Howard has a lengthy injury history with stingers and Scott was placed on the COVID reserve list Monday.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Cowboys were -7 on FanDuel Sportsbook. Expect that line to move further towards the Cowboys once the rule outs role in.
