Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will reportedly undergo surgery on the left ankle he injured Week 12, but will have no limitations for the start of next season.
Dr. David Chao, ProFootballDoc, said Hurts suffered a mild left high ankle sprain when he was stepped on by running back Boston Scott.
Hurts missed the Week 13 game, but returned after the team's Week 15 bye.
"Typically these do not need surgery, but during the offseason the decision for surgery becomes a lot easier," Chao said. "If there's a small chance that an injury could continue to bother a player, teams and physicians are fairly aggressive in recommending surgery to start the next season with a clean bill of health."
The surgery should be minor in nature and carry a recovery of no more than six weeks, which will allow Hertz to have a full offseason program, Chao said.
Anytime a starting quarterback has surgery it is news, but this really is more of a footnote, or perhaps ankle note.
The second-year quarterback finished the year averaging 209.6 passing yards and 52.3 rushing yards per game. He had 10 rushing touchdowns, 16 passing touchdowns and 9 interceptions in 15 games this season.
