Jets Free Safety Marcus Maye Out For Game With Calf Injury

Jets free safety Marcus Maye suffered a calf injury in the third quarter of the Thursday night game and will not return. By video, Maye suffered a non-contact calf strain when he attempted to make a tackle early in the third quarter. Muscle strains are difficult to judge by video, but Maye going straight to the locker room and being deemed doubtful to return are not good signs. The 28-year-old could be facing a multi-week absence. He already missed Weeks 5 and 6 with an ankle injury.

Update

After the game, head coach Robert Salah said Maye has an Achilles injury and "it doesn't look good." While it is certainly a possibility, we hope an MRI does not show an Achilles tendon tear for the veteran free safety.
