Jimmy Garoppolo will return as the 49ers' starting quarterback this Sunday night against the Colts. Garoppolo was limited in practice the last two days and was on the practice field Friday as well. A calf contusion caused him to miss the Week 5 contest against the Cardinals. We were confident he could return after the bye week and that seems to be the case. Veteran left tackle Trent Williams will likely miss the game with an ankle injury he suffered Week 5. Williams missed practice all week and is dealing with a shoulder injury as well.
Rookie quarterback Trey Lance started Week 5, but sprained his left knee and has missed practice all week. Lance rushed 16 times in the game for 89 yards. We did not see exactly when he sprained his left knee, but we expect him to be healthy enough to play Week 8.
