Joe Burrow Will Have Normal Offseason Program Despite Knee Injury in Super Bowl

Joe Burrow suffered a right knee injury in the Super Bowl, but it will not require surgery and shouldn't affect his offseason training.

By video, ProFootballDoc, Dr. David Chao said the second-year quarterback suffered an MCL sprain on a sack early in the fourth quarter.

Burrow remained in the game, but looked to have limited mobility down the stretch. He was sacked seven times by the Rams defense.

The good news for Burrow is the injury was not to his surgically repaired left knee.

Chao said he anticipates that Burrow will be ready for the start of the offseason program. Four-to-six weeks of recovery would be plenty and there is no need for surgery.

His offseason will be vastly different this year than last season when he was working hard on his ACL rehab and recovery. He can spend this offseason working on other areas of his body and his game.

Don't be surprised to see Burrow come back stronger and better next year, which is normal coming off an ACL injury, Chao said.

Burrow finished the regular season with 4,611 passing yards, 34 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He was sacked 51 times in the regular season and 19 times in the playoffs.
