Joe Mixon Misses Practice With Ankle Injury, Unlikely To Play Against Packers

Cincinnati running back Joe Mixon missed his second straight practice Thursday with a left ankle injury he suffered against the Jaguars last Thursday night. He left the game on the final drive and Samaje Perine took over running back duties in the last-second win. By video, we believe Mixon is dealing with a minor high ankle sprain. When Mixon suffered the injury last week we explained on video that we expected him to miss at least one week. Our thoughts haven't changed. Perine will likely start against Green Bay this week and possibly next week as well. High ankle sprains are tough to bounce back quick from, especially for running backs. However, we don't expect Mixon to be placed on IR. Through four games this season, the 25-year-old has 353 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns and seven catches for 29 yards.
