Joe Mixon, the Bengals versatile running back, practiced Wednesday despite injuring his left ankle late in the win over the Broncos.
By video, Mixon suffered a mild ankle sprain when he was tackled by Denver rookie cornerback Pat Surtain II with just under three minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Mixon did not return to the game, finishing with 17 carries for 58 yards and 1 catch for 2 yards.
The ankle injury is not concerning for his availability Sunday in a pivotal divisional matchup for first place in the AFC North.
He did play the second half last week with a compression sleeve on his left knee.
Dr. David Chao, ProFootballDoc, said the sleeve suggests he is dealing with bursitis in his left knee, but the issue is more about pain tolerance than functionality.
Mixon has not missed a game this season, but has not rushed for more than 60 yards since Week 12.
Backup running back Samaje Perine could be in line for more action if Mixon's ankle or knee worsens throughout the week, but Perine has not eclipsed 50% of the offense's snaps since Week 5.
