The 49ers left tackle is right on pace to return after he broke his fibula (lower leg) six weeks ago. At that time, we felt a six-week recovery timeline was reasonable which is why he was not placed on injured reserve. If that happened, it would have meant him missing a mandatory eight games. Seeing that this is his second day in a row practicing, expect Staley to play this Sunday as the 49ers host the now hot Panthers. Typically a player doesn't play full reps upon return from a fracture but I would not put it past Staley to be fully effective and play the majority if not all snaps.
