Here's How Joel Embiid's Injury Provides Prop Value in Game 1

The Philadelphia 76ers head into the second round severely shorthanded with superstar C Joel Embiid fracturing his right orbital bone and dealing with a “mild” concussion. The two-way phenom will miss at most the first two games of series with Sixers eyeing a potential Game 3 return.

In the mean time, Philly will have to find a way to play without Embiid and will likely form a work by committee approach with his starting replacement yet to be announced.

With the Embiid-sized hole on the roster, his absence will be felt on both sides of the ball meaning there is value across the board in terms of player props heading into Game 1. (All odds from FanDuel Sportsbook)

James Harden U10.5 Assists (-138)

The playmaking guard with be without his star center meaning the scoring onus will fall to him. Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris can create their own shots whilst Embiid needs the ball fed to him inside. Expect the former Rocket to score more and pass less producing just under 11 assists.

Tobias Harris O18.5 Points (-106)

The former Clipper has gone over this prop number once in the last three games but with Embiid out, his scoring ability will be relied on Game 1. The Heat will focus on the threat of Harden and the quickness of Maxey meaning Harris should sneak in to provide scoring in different ways.

Bam Adebayo O10.5 Rebounds (+112)

The Sixers will be without their star center and his replacement will be several tiers below Adebayo in terms of talent. The Heat center should have his way on both ends and dominate whoever starts on the boards. The Kentucky alum has gone over the prop twice in the last three games and should clear the number tonight.
