The Rams safety outstretched his arm, which led to injury and we indicated several weeks ago that it was likely a shoulder subluxation dislocation. This usually means a labral tear and at least a temporary absence. Now news has come that he has undergone surgery. The surgery is likely a labral repair shoulder instability surgery. Although he is eligible to return after eight games, medically this is not possible. The quickest recovery from a shoulder labral repair is three to four months, but typically recovery takes six months. Even if the Rams make it back to the Super Bowl, Johnson would not play. I would expect him to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of 2020.
