John Wolford Headed To Hospital After Suffering Neck Injury

The Rams quarterback John Wolford left in an ambulance with a hard cervical collar on and of course that gets people understandably worried. This does not mean that he is paralyzed, or that he has a fracture. Certainly they were concerned enough to send him to the hospital as a precaution, but the neck would have been much more immobilized if it was a documented paralysis or instability situation. In fact, if it were an unstable fracture situation, he shouldn't have been allowed to get up and walk off the field, and he shouldn't have been examined on the sideline or on the field where his neck was compressed/twisted. The hope is that it was an imaging issue where the two dimensional X-ray wasn't clear on a hairline fracture mild injury, or a stable cervical injury of some sort, meaning that there are no long term consequences for John Wolford. He is certainly out for the rest of the game today and for the foreseeable future.
