Patriots cornerback Jonathan Jones is set to have shoulder surgery and will reportedly miss the remainder of the 2021 season. The sixth-year DB was placed on IR last week and missed the Patriots' 54-13 win over the Jets.
After trading away top corner Stephon Gilmore earlier this season, the 3-4 Patriots will rely on J.C. Jackson – who intercepted nine passes last season – Jalen Mills, Myles Bryant, Joejuan Williams and rookie Shaun Wade. Jackson is the only cornerback remaining from the 2018 Super Bowl-winning team.
Jones had 20 tackles and an interception in the first six weeks of the season.
The Patriots are set to take on Justin Herbert and the Chargers next weekend. The line has opened at Chargers -5.5, according to Fanduel Sportsbook.
