Jordan Hicks Exit Start vs. Mets With Right Wrist Contusion

Cardinals starter Jordan Hicks exited Tuesday's start against the Cardinals with a right wrist contusion after taking a line drive off his pitching arm.

With one out in the top of the 2nd inning, Mets first baseman Dominic Smith smashed a liner up the middle that hit Hicks right on the forearm and ricocheted to Cardinals first baseman Brendan Donovan.

Hicks was checked out by medical staff and allowed to continue, then exited after getting one more out to close the top half of the inning.

He was replaced by Andre Pallante in the top of the 3rd.

With the game still in progress details are scarce about Hicks' injury, but the Cardinals reported that he has a right wrist contusion.

If he can avoid an X-ray after the game, it would be great news. Either way, X-rays are typically done out of precaution.
