Jordan Whitehead Dealing With Possible Pectoral Tendon Rupture, Could Miss Super Bowl Or May Delay Surgery

The Bucs free safety Jordan Whitehead is in danger of missing the Super Bowl. Going back to review of the game film, there is worry for a left pectoral tendon rupture. Whitehead was quickly ruled out of the NFC Championship game with a shoulder issue after he made a crushing tackle on Jamal Williams. It looks like his left arm came in contact with the upper thigh leg of Jamal Williams and Williams momentum caused an extension that could have ruptured the tendon. There is no announcement yet, but it is our impression that he may have a pectoral tendon tear which likely will need surgery. Our suspicion is because it is the Super Bowl, they will want to do everything possible to try to allow him to play. It is possible to play in the Super Bowl and delay surgery, and while his ability to wrap up on tackles will not be the same, the coverage skills would still be there. The question now is, will Whitehead try and play through his pectoral rupture, and delay surgery because it is the Super Bowl, or will he be ruled out.
