Jose Altuve Out of Lineup Tuesday With Hamstring Strain, Scheduled for MRI

Houston Astros star second baseman Jose Altuve is not playing Tuesday against the Angels and is reportedly scheduled to undergo an MRI to determine the severity of his hamstring strain.

The seven-time All-Star left Monday's win in the 8th inning after suffering a left hamstring strain while running out an infield single.

After the game, manager Dusty Baker said Altuve was considered “day-to-day” and said the team would know more about his status on Tuesday.

His status appears to be heading towards a stint on the 10-day IL and could keep him out at least two weeks, as the ProBaseballDocs projected yesterday after the injury.

Aledmys Diaz (FD$2,100) will take over at second base for Tuesday's game and will slot into the seventh spot in the order.

Altuve is hitting .167 in 9 games this season with 1 homerun and 3 RBIs. Diaz is hitting .182 in 22 at bats this season.

Houston is favored by 1.5 runs over the Angels and the over/under is 8 runs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Los Angeles may have Mike Trout back in the lineup after he suffered a left hand contusion on Sunday.
