NFL

The Patriots wide receiver attempted to tackle an intercepting opponent at the goaline and had his foot caught, body twisted, and his ankle became hyperflexed/contorted. By video, everyone was worried how the injury looked and how his ankle was twisted. However by analysis, his ligaments should be intact and there is no ACL, achilles or other major ligament damage. Indeed, he was labeled questionable to return, rode a stationary bike but did not return in the second half. This mechanism of injury does not lead to major damage but he will experience soreness and there may be involvement with the meniscus. This reminds me of last years similarly visually horrific looking injury that teammate Sony Michel experienced last year on Week seven versus the Bears. Michel returned after missing two games.
