Josh Hart Injury Update: Will the Knicks 3 & D Star Play on Tuesday?

Update: Hart has been upgraded to questionable ahead of Game 2.

New York Knicks wing Josh Hart is doubtful for Game 2 of the New York Knicks' first-round playoff series against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night.

By video, Hart suffered an inversion left ankle sprain in the fourth quarter of Game 1. The sprain likely caused his left ankle to swell overnight, but he has a history of sprains on that side meaning less damage was done this time.

The former Blazer and Pelicans guard has a good chance to suit up for Game 3 on Friday and can be effective as a spot shooter although he likely won't have his usual mobility to rebound.

He carries a SIC score of 61, but that could improve heading into Friday.

Hart was a huge reason the Knicks upset the Cavaliers, who were on their home court. He had 17 points and 10 rebounds on 8-of-11 shooting. He was a marksman that guarded the opposing team’s best player.

Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters that Hart participated in "parts of practice," and the team will see how he feels on Tuesday before making a final decision. "Usually, with sprains like that, it's more how you feel the next day. He said he felt fine in the game, and we'll see how he feels tomorrow," Thibodeau said.

Hart is a massive part of the Knicks’ defense and rebounding, and they will most likely increase RJ Barrett’s minutes in his absence. The Knicks are 18-8 since trading for Hart and 30-27 without him.

Julius Randle Update

Randle played better than expected after missing the team’s last five games. He had a rough shooting night, but that’s just his playstyle. His right ankle sprain doesn’t seem to be an issue.

Knicks vs. Cavs Game 2 Odds

After losing a tight Game 1, the Cavaliers are favored by 5.5 points at home in Game 2, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Knicks are -168 to win the series, while Cleveland is at +140.
