San Francisco 49ers veteran cornerback Josh Norman reportedly spent the night in a hospital because he was spitting up blood after suffering a chest injury in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Packers. By video, Norman suffered the injury when he tackled Aaron Jones with just under 11 minutes left in the half and took the brunt of the force in the chest. The 33-year-old cornerback got up immediately after the play and celebrated the tackle, then stayed in for the next defensive series before leaving just before halftime. Norman was ruled out after halftime and reportedly taken to a hospital as he was spitting up blood. There are many reasons for blood to appear and it is obviously scary, but most instances are not from serious injuries. Spitting up blood is not uncommon, but coughing up blood (not blood tinged sputum) is a different story. It is now reported that he had bilateral bruised lungs. This is not something that will go away in seven days. He will likely miss this week and an IR stint is on the table. San Francisco needs all the cornerbacks they can get right now with Jason Verrett out for the year and the K'Waun Williams dealing with a calf strain he suffered Week 3.
