Update: Sweat's tests at the hospital were presumably positive as he was reportedly released on Sunday and allowed to return home.
Eagles defensive end Josh Sweat suffered a neck injury on a tackle early in the first quarter against the Saints.
Based on video of the hit, there is not concern for paralysis, according to the Pro Football Docs. Sweat hit the Saints' rusher's hip with his forehead rather than the top of his head, which would have been worse.
He was taken off on a stretcher and a spine board, likely as a precaution, and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Depending on the damage the MRI shows, he could return for the playoffs.
The Eagles are thin at defensive end after the losses of Robert Quinn and Derek Barnett.
Linval Joseph or Ndamukong Suh will likely slot in at defensive end with Sweat out.
The Eagles face the Giants in Philadelphia in Week 18.
