Rookie Bears quarterback Justin Fields injured his left knee in the second quarter of the Week 5 matchup with the Raiders, but returned to the game. By video, Fields hyperextended his left knee on a scramble for no yards with just under seven minutes left in the half. Fields limped to the sideline, then returned to the game after three plays. We believe Fields escaped a ligament tear, but there is significant worry for swelling and a bone bruise similar to backup quarterback Andy Dalton. Our worry is for a similar bone bruise, but the mechanism of Dalton's injury was not the same. Although Fields seems to be moving well, his knee could get worse as the game progresses.
