Kadarius Toney, the Giants rookie wide receiver, suffered an ankle injury against the Cowboys Week 5 which could cause him to miss Week 6. Head coach Joe Judge told reporters Monday that Toney underwent an X-ray for an ankle injury, but he didn't think it was anything "significant." Toney had his left ankle taped at the start of the game and appeared to aggravate the injury early in the second quarter and late in the third quarter. He returned both times after appearing to aggravate the injury and turned in a fantastic performance. Toney had 10 catches for 189 yards before he was ejected for throwing a punch at Cowboys safety Damontae Kazee with just over six minutes left in the fourth quarter. Toney will reportedly face a fine, not a suspension, for the ejection. He will likely be eligible to play Week 6 and we think he will be healthy enough to suit up against the Rams.
Veteran wide receiver Kenny Golladay also did not finish the Week 5 game against the Giants. The 27-year-old suffered a knee injury in the first quarter and attempted to play through it before leaving at halftime. After the game, Golladay told reporters he hyperextended his knee, but by video we had worry for a bone bruise. The former Lions wide receiver reportedly avoided a major knee injury, but will miss at least this week.
Giants number 2 and 3 wide receivers Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton both missed the last two weeks with hamstring strains. If they both are inactive and Toney can't play, then the Giants will be left with John Ross, C.J. Board and Collin Johnson at wide receiver.
